Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is one of the common complications of diabetes mellitus (DM), which leads to lower limb amputation. The most frequent underlying etiologies are neuropathy, trauma, deformity, high plantar pressures and peripheral arterial disease. Loss of protective sensation is the primary factor in foot ulceration in diabetics.
30 male and female patients were selected based on the inclusion criteria (according to wagner grading system). They were divided into two groups randomly and named group A as control group and group B as experimental group. Group A received conventional therapy where as group B has received therapeutic laser (TL) Helium-Neon (He-Ne) of 660nm wavelength with a dosage of 4J/cm2 for five days a week for four weeks. Their pre and post intervention values were taken and analyzed by using T test.
Both the groups were compared with pre intervention and post intervention scores by using T test. Group A results were not significant where as group B results showed significant values at p <05.
