To evaluate the efficacy of methotrexate in the treatment of chronic spontaneous urticaria poorly responsive to antihistamines. Urticariais a common condition affecting 15–20% of the general population at least once during the life time.
Females have a slightly higher prevalence (61%) than males. It clinically manifests as wheals, which are transient, well-defined, superficial erythematous or pale swellings of the dermis and usually associated with itching.
