This study is conducted to predict the misuse of alcohol and other drugs by doctors, their intervention and treatment.
From various parts of Andhra Pradesh total 1,192 doctor's data on substance abuse was collected. Out of which, 155 doctors have substance abuse.
Majority of doctors abuse alcohol and other drugs. Alcohol is identified as the drug of choice.
Chemical impairment has been shown a major risk factor for medical malpractice, negligence and development of physical, psychological illness and finally death. Early recognization and intervention will cause to recover and return to practice.
