Prenatal care is an important tool for identifying and reducing risks such as; low weight infants, stillborn or death of infant during the first year of life. Providing prenatal care leads to the birth of healthy baby without compromising the health of mother. Aim of the study was to determine the quality of prenatal care provided by health centers is the city of Jiroft in 2015.
This was a descriptive cross-sectional study in which 385 mothers attending health centers in the city of Jiroft were selected through quota sampling. To determine the quality of received prenatal care Kotel Chuck tool was used.
According to Kotel Chuck measurement, 51.6% of the women had received moderate quality of care. In regard to prenatal care, majority of the women (62.3%) had received prenatal care in the first trimester of their pregnancy.
The majority of women were attending health centers for prenatal care but only a few of them received appropriate and adequate care. Furthermore, since prenatal care prevents problems during pregnancy and childbirth, more attention must be paid to it and measures must be taken to eliminate/reduce its barriers.
