Abstract

Dentigerous cyst which arises from dental follicle of unerrupted permanent tooth is 2nd most common cyst involving the maxillofacial region after radicular cyst. This type of cyst generally associated with unerrupted 3rd mandibular tooth. A case of a dentigerous cyst located in the mandible of a 36 year old woman was reported in Dept Of Omfs, Institute Of Dental Sciences, Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (Deemed To Be University), Bhubaneswar. The patient complaining swelling and discomfort in the left mandibular body region. on radiographic examination there was a well circumscribed radiolucent lesion associated with a impacted supernumerary tooth. lesion was excised under local anesthesia and specimen was sent for histo-pathological examination. Microscopic examination of the excised tissue showed it to be well-circumscribed with fibrous tissues, and the cystic space lined by keratinized epithelium
