A novel idea of reversible image watermarking for gray level stationary image using Difference Expansion (DE) has been described on this paper. The performance calculation of the watermarking formula in terms of speed and timing of execution have an edge over the other existing algorithms. For an input cover image the best watermark image is determined (with respect to PSNR) by computing the highest possible payload size and in turn, the embedding threshold. Our proposed methodology based on DE has outperformed the performance based on DCT in regard to PSNR of the reconstructed image from the watermarked image.
