The objective of this case report is highlight the problem of bestiality in the Mthatha region of South Africa. This is a retrospective report of a case that was referred from a veterinary doctor in Mthatha, 2009. A 25-year-old adult male was mentally unstable. He was also suffering from HIV infection and looking for a cure. A blood sample from the sheep was brought to Sinawe Centre for HIV testing. It was rejected for HIV testing, as the test is not meant for animal blood. The sheep was later killed by community members and the meat was discarded, as it was considered unfit for human consumption. There is a misconconception and misbelief regarding bestiality and cure of HIV infection in the Mthatha region of South Africa.
