The Knowledge and Practices of Midwives for Immediate Newborn Care in Karbala Teaching Hospital for Maternity and Pediatric

Every year, more than a million of the world's newborns die on their first day of life; as many as two-thirds of these deaths could be prevented by essential care at birth and the early newborn period. This study conducted to assess the knowledge and practices for immediate newborn care in Karbala Teaching Hospital for Maternity and Pediatric A Cross-sectional descriptive study conduct from 24/January to 10 march 2017, current study involve 40 midwives in Karbala Teaching Hospital for Maternity and Pediatric. Questionnaire used for data collection by interview forms and observation checklist was obtained the extensive review of relevant literature and related studies data analysis and inferential data analysis. the current study indicated that all midwives in delivery room have fair knowledge for immediate newborn care and overall Practices of Midwives for immediate newborn care were fair. All mid-wives in delivery room at Karbala Teaching Hospital for Maternity and Pediatric had fair knowledge and practices for immediate newborn care.
