Determinants of Malnutrition in Children Under Five Years in Developing Countries: A Systematic Review

Abstract

Malnutrition in children under five years is a serious public health problem in developing countries, particularly in Africa and Asia regions. Child malnutrition has contibuted to 54% of deaths among children under five. This systematic review aimed to identify the determinants of malnutrition in children under five years in developing countries.

This study searched several electronic databases, namely Proquest, Scopus, Web of Science, Pubmed, and Medline Ovid. The final rearch obtained 36 articles and were reviewed.

Malnutrition in children under five years were determined by parental education, drinking water sources, toilet facilities, and income.

Child malnutrition is generated by no single factors, so dealing with child malnutrition will need comprehencive strategies.
