Self-Esteem and its relation with academic achievement of 3rd and 4th class students of nursing colleges in the South of Iraq

This study aims to: Assess Self-Esteem Levels and Academic Achievement among Students of nursing Colleges in the South of Iraq. Determine Relationship between Self-Esteem Levels and Student’s Academic Achievement of their 1^st semester. Determine the Differences in Self-Esteem Levels between Gender Differences and find-out the Relationship between Self-Esteem Levels and Age groups. A purposive sample of (408 students) was selected, and data was collected through using a questionnaire which was validated by experts and statistical examination. Also, it consisted of three main Axes: I-Sociodemographic characteristics. II-Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) III-Iraq Grading Scale for assessing student achievement level. Study results showed that there was very strong positive relationship between self-esteem and academic achievement, while there was no significant difference to genders, also there were no relationships between self-esteem level and age. Success is depending on self-esteem level. In addition to, students’ self-esteem is neither influenced by age nor gender differences.
