Drug errors are preventable effects due to misuse of medication. Drug errors are a high percentage, which is no less serious than other medical errors. Medication errors are the main factors endangering the patient safety. Patient safety is a significant challenge facing health care system today. To evaluate the effectiveness of an educational program on nurses’ practices concerning medication error, to reduce medication errors that include prescribing, transcribing, administrating and monitoring and to determine the relationship between nurses’ practices and their demographic data characteristic. The results showed a positive effectiveness of educational program. It also shows that there are highly significant differences in the study group between pre and post-tests at significance level P ≤ 0.05. The study concluded that the nurses working at medical, surgical department and intensive care unit have the minimum level of experience in medication administration and need educational program and sessions.
