Effectiveness of an instructional program on secondary school teachers’ knowledge and behaviors about dysfunctional uterine bleeding in AL-Muthanna Governorate

Abstract

A quasi-experimental design was used in this study to determine the influence of the instructional program in enhancing secondary school teacher’s knowledge and behaviors related to DUb in AL-Simawah City. The study sample included a non-probability “convenience” sample of (175) teachers; (125) teachers for the study group and (50) teachers for the control group. The study sample was recruited from (14) secondary schools who were selected randomly from total (19) Al-Simawah City. The age mean for the study group is 36.3 ± 7.4; around a half are within the age group of (38-45) years-old (n = 62; 49.6%) most in the study group are in the upper middle class. The instructional program positively influenced the participants’knowledge about DUb, Its etiology, diagnosis, treatment, preventive behaviors, indications of physicians visit, and the overall knowledge about DUB. Furthermore, there is a positive significant correlation between participant’s age and their knowledge about the symptoms of DUB. Whereas, there are inverse significant correlations between participants SES and their knowledge about etiology and diagnosis of DUb.
