Critical units are one of the most important places where the chances of transmission health-care associated infections are very large because of the required health care, which needs to use tools and devices penetrating the patient’s body in addition to the length of the patient’s stay in these units. Another reason is the convergences of beds of the patients and frequent visitors. The study aims to evaluate of nurses practices to prevent health-care associated infection in critical care units and find out the relationship between nurse’s practices and their demographical characteristics. The study showed that the majority (57.5%) of the nurses who are working at critical care unit in Hilla City Hospital sometime performed practices to prevent healthcare associated infection and only nurse’s educational attainment has been affected on performance of sterile practices in CCU.
