Abstract

The objectives of this study were analysis of the secondary metabolite products and evaluation antibacterial activity. bioactives are chemical compounds often referred to as secondary metabolites. Twenty four bioactive compounds were identified in the methanolic extract of Tribulus terrestris. The identification of bioactive chemical compounds is based on the peak area, retention time molecular weight and molecular formula. GC-MS analysis of Tribulus terrestris revealed the existence of the 2-Furancarboxaldehyde, 5-methyl-, Alpha-l-rhamnopyranose, DL-Leucine, n-glycyl-, 1-Amino-2, 6-dimethylpiperidine, DL-Arabinose, Glycylsarcosine, 4H-Pyran-4-one, 2, 3-dihydro-3, 5-dihydroxy-6-methyl-, Dithiocarbamate, S-methyl-, n (2-methyl-3-oxobutyl)-, Benzofuran, 2, 3-dihydro-, 3-Allyl-6-methoxyphenol, Vanillin lactoside, α-D-Glucopyranoside, O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-(fwdarw.3)-β-D-fruc, D-Fructose, diethyl mercaptal, pentaacetate, Desulphosinigrin, n-Hexadecanoic acid, Trans-9, 10-Epoxyoctadecanoic acid, Octadecanoic acid, butyl citrate, Tributyl acetylcitrate, 4’-Apo-β,.psi.-carotenoic acid, Vitamin E, Campesterol, Stigmasterol and Diosgenin. Tribulus terrestris has maximum zone against Klebsiella pneumonia (4.873±0.19).
