Human health effects of electronic cigarettes: A review

Abstract

In the modern generation of the 21st century, there has been increased and rapid use of electronic cigarettes in most countries across the globe. These electronic cigarettes are marketed and perceived to be the healthy alternative and life-choice consumables as compared to the conventional cigarettes. As an implication, electronic cigarettes have gained popularity amongst teenagers and never-smokers thus becoming the current issue on the public health. However, the data available in the online databases is limited regarding the safety issues and the efficacy of treatment, reduction of tobacco dependency to the public. Most of the people do not know and recognize the overall impacts of these devices which deliver nicotine-containing vapor on demographic health. This study and systematic review acknowledges the clinical and laboratory research that are mainstays of health impacts of E-cigarettes use versus the devastating health risks of smoking conventional or tobacco cigarettes. Presently, the data available reveals that e-cigs are the less harmful, and, thus are best alternatives to traditional smoking. Advancements, creativity, research and innovation on the electronic cigarettes will help in community engagement and enhance public awareness. This will be effective smoking as it reduces residual and adverse effects by revisiting quality control standards.
