Spirituality is contributed in coping with mental illness. Spiritual-religious coping refers to the tendency of individuals to use religious rituals and spiritual practices to get rid of illness, emotional crises, stressful life. A descriptive design study in which assessment approach is applied to achieve the objectives of the study and was carried out to assess role of spirituality in coping strategies with mental illness among psychiatric patients in outpatients’ psychiatric clinics at teaching hospitals in baghdad city. The period of the study was from the 4th December, 2017 to the 1th March, 2018. The data are analyzed through the use of Statistical Package for Social Science (IBM-SPSS version 24). The descriptive and inferential statistical procedures were used for analysis of data. The finding of the study revealed that psychiatric patients are having a moderate level of spirituality in which the total score of the spiritual well-being, role of spirituality in coping strategies with mental illness; the correlation in this table indicates that there is high significant relationship between spirituality and coping strategies at p-value = 0.001respectively. This indicates that spirituality has a strong positive role in coping strategies with mental illness among psychiatric patients.
