The image of nursing is vital to the profession, necessary in today's changing workplace and an important concept for future nurses to understand.
A descriptive cross-sectional survey approach was used to assess the image of nurses and their nursing performance by using socio demographic data sheet, Porter Nurse Image Scale and Six Dimension scale of nursing performance on conveniently selected 200 working nurses.
Majority of the subjects were females (90.5%) and qualified upto G.N.M (64%). Majority (41.50%) of subjects working in specialized area of hospital. There was positive self perceived public image of nursing among nurses and high quality of work performed by nurses. Study found moderate significant positive relationship of self perceived public image of nursing with nurses work behavior.
Study concluded that by improving self perceived public image of nursing, one can able to make improve the work behavior among nurses working at various levels.
