A study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding Alzheimer's Disease among Students of Paramedical Courses in Selected Colleges of Vidarbha Region

Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia. It is a neurological brain disorder named after a German physician, Alois Alzheimer, who first described it in 1906. The exact cause of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is unknown. Age is the most important risk factor for developing Alzheimer's disease. Women are more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease than men probably because they live longer.1

To assess the knowledge of students of paramedical courses regarding Alzheimer's disease among selected colleges of Vidarbha region. To associates the knowledge of students regarding Alzheimer's disease with selected demographic variables.

Tool used for the study is knowledge questionnaire regarding Alzheimer's disease.

Non experimental Descriptive study on 300subjects which includes paramedical college students of vidarbha region, by Non probability convenience sampling.

This study shows that 1.4% of the students had poor level of knowledge score, 35.3% of the students had average knowledge score, 54.33% of the students had good knowledge score, 21% of the students had very good knowledge score and no one belongs to excellent knowledge score respectively.

The study was conducted among students of paramedical courses in selected colleges of vidarbha region in order to assess their knowledge regarding Alzheimer's disease. After the completion of the study it is revealed that the majority (54.33%) of the students have average knowledge regarding Alzheimer's disease.
