Abstract

LSCS is an assisted delivery which can have potential health care impact on the woman. Exercising in the post natal period can help the woman regain functioning abilities earlier. However, preference of group exercises in the post natal period is still being explored.

100 women were conveniently selected to undergo group therapy and individual therapy. They were randomly assigned to group therapy and individual therapy on the first day. They crossed over to the other treatment form on the second day. Prior to starting the treatment and after completion of two days of treatment, the women filled out a questionnaire which asked for pain levels, their preferred method of exercising and the reason for their preference. The Mann-Whitney U Test was used to compare pain levels pre and post the intervention. The preferences were documented in a descriptive manner.

Two-tailed p-value for pain levels was <0.000, which is very significant. 60% of the women preferred performing exercises in a group with 40% preferring individual exercises.

Group therapy was the preferred mode of exercise

Group exercises are preferred over individual treatment.
