Abstract

Quasi experimental study design (Comparative in nature).

To compare the effectiveness of myofascial release technique and cyriax manual therapy in reducing pain and improving function in patients with lateral epicondylitis.

30 subjects were included in the study. The subjects were alternately assigned into two groups i.e. group A and group B by using convenient sampling technique. Group A received myofascial release technique in conjunction with ultrasound and group B received Cyriax manual therapy in conjunction with ultrasound. Treatment was given for 12 sessions over a period of four weeks. Data was collected on 1st (pre-treatment), 6th (post-treatment) and 12th (post-treatment) session.

In within group analysis, both the groups i.e. Group A and Group B showed significant (p<0.05) improvement in VAS and PRTEE scores after 12 treatment sessions but on comparing the two groups, both groups showed statistically non-significant difference in pain (p-value > 0.05) and disability (p-value > 0.05).

The finding suggests that in 12 treatment sessions, both the techniques equally effective in reducing pain and disability.
