Nocturnal leg cramps are pain that occur in lower limbs particularly hamstring and calf during night time. They usually cause awakening from sleep but may also occur while awake at night during period of activity. Nocturnal leg cramps are quite past for ainful and causes the affected muscle of feet and thigh are knotted. symptoms may last from several second up to minutes. There might also be Muscle soreness after the cramp Nocturnal leg cramps are more common in adults over Age 50 but they also do occur in younger adults and children both men and women to be equally affected. Cryotherapy is the the application of local or general use of low temperature in medical therapy. Cryotherapy is used to treat variety of benign and malignant tissue damage medically called lesion. The Term Cryotherapy comes from the greek word ‘cryo’ meaning cold and therapy means cure. Cryotherapy has been used in early as the seventeenth century. Stretching is a form of physical exercise in which specific muscle or tendon is deliberately flexed or stretched in order to improve the muscle elasticity and to achieve comfortable muscle tone. The result is a feeling of increased muscle control flexibility and range of motion with the related joints. Stretching is also used therapeutically to alleviate cramps. Aim and objective of the study is to find out the effect of active stretching of hamstring and calf muscle. Applications of cryotherapy on hamstring calf muscle effects of stretching in cryotherapy in treating nocturnal leg cramps. Need and significance of the study is to find out better treatment for older adult suffering from nocturnal leg cramps. This study will be clinically useful in knowing either stretching or cryotherapy will be better in treating nocturnal leg cramps in older adults
