Abstract

Core muscles play's a major role in stability and mobility, the inner core muscles plays a major role for lumbar spine stability. Low endurance capacity of inner core muscles is one of the risk factor for mechanical low back pain. This study was focused to measure the endurance capacity of Transversus abdominis in overweight individuals.

An Observational study consisting of 70 subjects age group of 17–25 years were included in this study using incidental sampling method. This study was conducted in Exercise Therapy Lab, Vels University, Chennai. Endurance capacity of Transversus abdominis in over weight individuals were assessed using Drawing-in maneuver test and the outcome was measured using sphygmomanometer.

The mean age was 23 years, the mean BMI is 26.93 ± 0.14 (kg/m2), the endurance capacity of Tranverse abdominis was 3.86 ± 0.164 mmHg. The endurance capacity of overweight individuals with t-value 23.50 and p-value.001showing its significance.

It shows that there was significant difference in endurance capacity of Transverse abdominis muscle in overweight individuals.
