The study was done to assess the hand function in patients with Diabetic neuropathy and to study the effect of strength training on hand function in patient with diabetic neuropathy.
30 patients diagnosed with neuropathy who gave their consent for the study were asked to perform the task and the scoring was noted according to the scale. The patients were assessed and strengthening exercise were given and then they were reassessed with the same tasks.
In Grip strength comparisons of post test values in group A are mean 34.80 and SD 12.23. Group B Mean 35.33 and SD 11.64. The t value 0.17 and P value 0.02 were P<0.05. These values suggest they are statistically significant. In ARAT the comparison of post test values in Group A are mean 38.67 and SD 13.20 Group B Mean 44.47 and SD 13.00. The t value 0.71and P value 0.004 were P<0.05. These values suggest they are statistically significant.
This study concludes that there is a significant effect in giving strength training on hand function in patient with diabetic neuropathy.
