To find the incidence of lower extremity injuries in Krishna half marathon 2016
This was an Observational study which was conducted to find out the incidence of lower extremity injuries in Krishna half marathon 2016. A total of 952 participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and willing to participate in the study were included. The participants were explained about the purpose of the study and written informed consent permission was taken from them. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were verified and the study procedure was explained from the subjects willing to participate and questionnaire was filled by the participants after the running event.
The incidence of lower extremity injury was 34.2%. Most common site of injury was thigh i.e 11.8%.
Lower extremity injuries were most common in thigh (11.8%), following calf (10.8%), knee (8.8%), ankle (2.7%), shin (1.4%), hip (1.5%), toe (0.8%) and groin (0.5%). Out of 952 participants, 20 participants had two site injury, 8 had three injury and only a single participant had one site injury. From the study we conclude that Incidence of lower extremity injuries was 34.2%.
