To identify correlation between walking tests and psychological factors after brain gym exercises in diabetic individuals.
Pre and post experimental study
Population-based
Sixty subjects both male and female of age group 45–59 years were included in the study and were divided into non-diabetic (Group A) and diabetic (Group B).
Brain Gym Exercises for 2 weeks
Walking performance was assessed in four walking tests: Fast walking, obstacle crossing, narrow-path walking and walking while talking. Possible correlates of the inability to perform the walking test included, cognition, depression after application of Brain Gym Exercise in diabetic individuals.
The results of data analyses, demonstrated that cognition and depression was associated with inability in walking under varied challenging tasks. Brain Gym Exercises are found to be effective in improving cognition and depression.
The study shows that psychological factors; cognition and depression are significantly correlated with inability to walk with different challenges in diabetic individual. Brain Gym Exercise are effective in improving cognition and depression.
