Abstract

To find the correlation of foot posture and frontal plane knee alignment in obese individuals with and without osteoarthritis knee.

218 obese individuals (109 individuals each with and without OA knee) were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Foot posture and frontal plane knee alignment was assessed using Foot Posture Index (FPI) and non-radiographic measure (Umbilical Method) of frontal plane knee alignment respectively.

Presence of pronated feet in both obese individuals with and without OA knee while no predominance of a single malalignment at knee in obese individuals with and without OA knee was seen. Also no correlation was found between foot posture and frontal plane knee alignment in obese individuals with and without OA knee.
