Efficacy of retro treadmill walking versus forward treadmill walking in hamstring flexibility, strength and balance in young collegiate student.
The duration of the study was one and half year. Minimum of 60 subjects were selected byrandom sampling for the study. They were divided randomly into three groups-Group A, Group B and Group C. Each group had minimum of 20 subjects. In Group A-subjects were instructed to do forward walking. Group B-subjects were instructed to do retro walking and Group C-was kept as control group. 5 sessions per week were given for 2 weeks respectively to each group and reassessment was done on 5th and 11th day.
The result showed that there was statistical significant difference between both the experimental groups-Group A and Group B.it is clear that forward and backward walking improves flexibility, strength and balance.
We conclude that forward walking and backward walking are effective in improving flexibility, strength and balance in healthy subjects. But backward walking proves to be more effective in improving flexibility, strength and balance as compare to forward walking hence, proving research hypothesis.
