This study is aimed to find out the effectiveness of Lumbar Stabilization Exercise along with the conventional physical therapy in the management of Mechanical Low Back Pain.
Experimental study design was adopted for the study
30 patients between age of 30–50 yrs having significant Mechanical Low Back Pain were selected as per the inclusion and exclusion criterion.
Using random sampling method the 30 subjects were divided into 2 equal groups with 15 patients. Both the groups were given conventional physical therapy as a baseline treatment. Along with conventional therapy the experimental group received Lumbar Stabilization Exercise 5 days per week for 6 weeks, whereas control group received only the conventional physical therapy. The study was performed for 6 weeks. Evaluation was done before starting the treatment and then after 6 weeks. Outcomes were evaluated using NPRS, MODQ
After a 6 week training period the Lumbar stabilization group scored significantly higher than the conventional group for NPRS (p<0.05) and MODQ (p<0.05).
After the treatment sessions Lumbar stabilization group registered a significant improvement when compared to conventional physical therapy in improving function and in relieving pain.
