There has been literature supporting the fact that athletes involved in high-speed sports require tailor-made training to minimize the risk of falls and to enhance better performance. Sport Activity Dependent Antagonist Muscles Strengthening (SADAMS) is a new concept which is designed with the ultimate goal of focusing on the resistance strengthening of only those isolated muscles which are known to develop muscle strength imbalance mostcommonly in skaters. Targeting mobility exercises especially in hip, groin, quadriceps and hamstrings may help skating technique, improve foot work and reduce the risk of injuries.
The ultimate goal of this study is to provide a Precise Resistance training protocol for roller skaters which will target those muscles which are known to be most vulnerable for developing strength imbalance.
100 roller-skaters (n=100) were recruited and divided randomly into control group and SADAMS group and changes in various performance parameters like strength, flexibility and agility were seen.
SADAMS group showed improved muscle strength and agility as compared to the control group which showed improvement only in the agility component. Both groups did not showed any significant improvement in flexibility component.
SADAMS protocol proved to be effective in improving strength and thus ultimately correcting muscle imbalance in competitive roller skaters.
