Degeneration of the structures of the spine can occur or a result of normal aging. This process may be accelerated in patients with previous trauma or injury to the lumber spine. Both men and women are affected by this illness. L4-L5 and L5-S1 are the most commonly involved lumbar levels, given they undergo the greatest torsion and compressive loads1. Nathan found 100% involving of Anterior osteophytes in individuals 40 years and older.
Common complaints include chronic back pain and stiffness. Patient may also report limited ranges of motion.
To find out the Correlation of Spinal Mobility with the Severity of Lumbar Spondylosis.
To find a relationship between spondylosis and lumbar movements.
30 subjects have been assessed and included according to inclusion criteria. Informed Consent was obtained. The study design was correlational.
Movements were assessed with subjective methods. Pain was assessed with the help of VAS while Roland scale was used for measuring the severity of spondylosis.
Pearson correlation test was used to analyze the data. Level of significance was kept at p < 0.05.
Results showed a significant correlation between spondylosis and spinal rotation and lateral flexion.
The data shows that there exists a significant correlation between spondylosis and spinal mobility.
