Back performance is essentially on the basis of the activities that require mobility of the trunk. The back performance level can be assessed by using the so called back performance scale. In order to investigate whether the body mass index is a factor that contributes to the level of back performance, the correlation between body mass index and back performance has been computed for males and females separately and also for the three groups such as underweight, normal weight and overweight respondents, equality of correlation co-efficients is tested. Also the average levels of back performance are tested for equality for the three groups using non parametric test. It was found that there exists a significant positive correlation between the two and also the gender has no influence over the level of back performance.
