To compare effect of stretching and mobilization on posterior shoulder tightness in cricketers.
45 asymptomatic male subjects (16-24yrs) who presented with posterior shoulder tightness participated. Subjects were randomly allocated to 3 groups of 15 each: Group A- Stretching, Group B- Posterior glide mobilization & Group C- combination of both. Digital inclinometer and Goniometer was used for measurements. Tightness was assessed by measuring internal rotation (weekly) and horizontal adduction distance (pre-post). Stretching and Mobilization was given accordingly. Duration of study: 3 weeks.
ANOVA and Post Hoc Scheffe analysis revealed Group-C has maximum improvement in internal rotation- 20.6° (32.2%), horizontal adduction- 10.73° (15.8%) followed by Group-A then B respectively.
Combination of stretching and mobilization is most effective in rehabilitation of PST. They can also be used individually.
