The effect of strength training program on bone mineral density in postmenopausal women has been studied. Osteoporosis is a common crippling bone disease affecting mainly postmenopausal women. Mechanical factors that affect bone remodeling include muscular contraction and gravity. In this study subjects were divided into three groups i.e. control group, strength training group and calcium supplementation group. Bone mineral density was found to increase significantly in strength training group and decrease significantly in strength training group, whereas the changes in calcium supplementation group were non-significant.
