Abstract

To assess the test-retest reliability, internal consistency, concurrent, construct and convergent validity of the Bengali translated IIQ-7 and SF-36.

Correlation design

There is currently no validity or reliability studies for the Bengali translated Incontinence Impact Questionnaire (IIQ-7) and Short Form-36 (SF-36) for use in Bangladeshi postpartum population.

Data comparisons of two groups between the ages of 18–54. Group 1 (n=20): subjects with previous history of childbirth and history of urinary incontinence; Group 2 (n=20): between ages of 18–54, no history of previous childbirth who completed the Bengali translated SF-36 and IIQ-7.

Test-retest reliability (ICC =.94-1.0) and internal consistency of both IIQ-7 and SF-36 (Cronbach's alpha =.94-.99) were good. Both tests demonstrated good convergent, construct, and concurrent validity.

The Bengali translated SF-36 and IIQ-7 demonstrated good test-retest reliability, internal consistency, construct, concurrent, and convergent validity for utilization in Bangladeshi postpartum population.
