To determine the effect of patellar taping on dynamic balance during SEBT in patients with PFPS.
Experimental design
30 subjects with PFPS, mean age 27.67 + 4.6yrs participated in the study. The subjects performed 3 reaches on the SEBT under no tape, placebo tape and real tape conditions. After each taping condition, the pain level & reach distance was measured.
The subjects with PFPS had a significant reduction in pain level and increased reach distance in all the three directions with both real and placebo tape application as compared to notape condition.
The study concludes that in patients with PFPS, the application of Mc Connell's taping to the patella helps in improving the dynamic balance during functional activities, as seen by improvement in SEBT.
