Obesity is nowadays becoming a serious health problem especially in the developed and developing countries. Overweight and obesity mainly include abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health. Neck circumference is a simple and time saving screening measure that can be used to identify overweight's. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the correlation of neck circumference with pulmonary function variables in young Indian adult adults with or without excess body weight.
To determine the correlation of neck circumference (NC) with Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) and Forced Expiratory Volume in first second (FEV1) in young Indian adult females with or without excess body weight.

Neck circumference showed a positive correlation with FEV1 and FVC in normal weight subjects. However in the overweight subjects, neck circumference was observed to have negative correlations with both FEV1 and FVC.
