Abstract

To compare the effect of floor exercises and Swiss ball exercises on pain, lumbar flexibility and torque of spinal flexors and extensors in subjects with mechanical low back pain.

Subjects were collected from the outpatient physiotherapy department of BIRRD, SVIMS, and TIRUPATI. Two way experimental study design with convenience sampling of 30 subjects for duration of five weeks.

After a 5 week treatment period, the subjects in group I and group II had shown improvement with the outcome measures; but on comparing group I with group II, group II had shown a statistically significant improvement at 0.05* level with the outcome measures.

This study shows that there is a significant improvement of torque of spinal flexors and extensors, lumbar flexibility and pain reduction with both floor exercises and Swiss ball exercises. The findings of present study suggest that there is a significant difference between floor exercises and Swiss ball exercises.
