A field experiment was conducted in sandy loam soil to study the effect of shading (0,33 and 66%) and NAA (0,5,10 and 20 ppm) on growth and yield of blackgram. Treatments were imposed at 50% flowering. Shading increased plant height, drymatter, chlorophyll content, flower drop and decreased seed yields. Application of NAA increased plant height, drymatter, chlorophyll content, and nitrate reductase activity, but it reduced the flower drop percentage which led to increased seed yields.
