Leaf Water and Leaf Dry Matter Content During Reproductive Phase of Four Cultivars of Mango (Mangifera Indica L.)

Abstract

Leaf water and leaf dry matter (LDM) content of 4 cultivars of mango were estimated. Relative water content (RWC) varied significantly with varieties but not with time. A gradual decline in LDM was observed from Novemeber to January with an increase in February. Regular flowering varieties Malviya Bhog (MB) and Amrapalli (A) had significantly higher relative water content (RWC) and lower water saturation deficit (WSD) in September as compared to May. Leaves of Langra (L) showed significant differences compared to other varieties. Mean absolute water content (AWC) and LDM fluctuated significantly with time.
