Effect of mannitol induced stress and ABA on shoot enhancement from apical meristems in loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.)

Abstract

Apical meristems from Loblolly pine seeds were grown on GD media with ABA ranging from 0, 10−8, 10−6 and 10−7 M in combination with water stress treatments induced by using 0, 2.0g and 5.6 g/L mannitol. Application of 10−7 M ABA when used with 5.6 g/1 mannitol resulted in highest response for shoot bud formation with maximum number of shoots.
