Sodium sulphate stress of 5.0g/l at the callus induction and 10.0g/l at the post-induction stage resulted in a higher green plant regeneration and less albino plants from rice anther callus. Induction stress resulted in 8 percent and 14 percent loss of callus induction efficiency in 5.0 and 10.0 g/l, respectively. From anther derived calli of rice variety, IR43, post-induction stress of 10.0 g/l Na2SO4 for one week and two weeks resulted in green plant regeneration to a highest of 39 and 27 percent, respectively. At 10.0 g/l Na2SO4 albino plant production was 17 percent in one week and 8 percent in two weeks of post induction stress. A dosage of 5.0 g/l at induction and 10.0 g/l Na2SO4 for one week at post-induction phase is suggested for high frequency rice plant regeneration through anther culture.
