Effect of photoperiodism and gibberellic acid on growth and flowering of carrot (Daucus carota L.)

Attempts were made to induce flowering in carrot (Daucus Carota L) by treating plants with gibberellic acid (10⁻⁴M GA₃) under different photoperiods in biennial cv. Early Nantes and the annual cv Pusa kesar. Plants of cv. Early Nantes flowered under long day and normal day but not under short days while plants of cv. Pusa kesar flowered under long day and normal day irrespective of GA₃ treatment, however, those under short day flowered only with GA₃ treatment.
