Abstract

Wheat genotypes K 7219, K 7419 and K 7244 showed highest grain yield per plant under dry conditions. They have been identified as drought tolerant as they maintained higher rates of photosynthesis, leaf water potential (lower negative value), lower rate of transpiration and higher grain yield than the susceptible genotypes (HP 1209, Sonalika, K 7544, K-852, UP 262 and K 7410). On the other hand, genotypes UP 262, HP 1209, K 74W and HUW12 yielded best under limited water supply. It is suggested that, the above attributes can be considered as important traits in improving grain yields of wheat genotypes under moisture stress condition.
