Abstract

An attempt was made to study the interactive effect of elevated CO2 and moisture stress on water relations of Brassica species grown in FACE facility. It was observed that plants respond to elevated CO2 significantly under moisture stress condition mitigating the adverse effects on leaf relative water content and intercellular water movement. The water status of plants improved under elevated CO2 concentration possibly by increasing water and osmotic potential due to increase in nonstructural carbohydrates, free amino acids and free fatty acids.
