Abstract

Primary and secondary roots were elongated due to phosphorus deficiency in horsegram (Macrotyloma uniflorum (Lam) Verde), sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) and pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) R.Br, when grown in soil and vermiculite media. The pH of the media decreased and the reduction of shoot dry matter was more than that of roots due to P deficiency.
