Higher doses of gamma irradiation (25 to 100 Krad) inhibited full expansion of cut rose flowers but prolonged the vase life. On the other hand, at lower doses (2.5 to 10 Krad), maximum opening of flower buds was observed with better longevity than in untreated flowers in cut rose cvs. ‘Raktagandha’. It was observed that irradiation at 50 Krad dose was found to be superior than other treatments. Furthermore, this treatment resulted in greater amounts of TSS and less amount of TFAA than untreated control.
