Abstract

Studies were conducted on the effect of seed inoculation and different schedules of irrigation on nodulation and its consequences on the seed yield of lentil and soil nitrogen status. Results showed better nodulation due to inoculation compared with control (uninoculated) and it was aggravated under irrigated situations. Number and weight of nodule in inoculated lentil were improved due to two irrigations followed by four irrigations. The nodule number and weight were higher at 90 days than that at 30 days of growth. As a consequence, improved nodulation enhanced atmospheric N-fixation into soil ensuring significant increase in seed yield.
