Senescing redgram leaves were detached from plants and leaf discs were subjected to kinetin (KN) treatment (0.375x10−6 M and 0.375 x 10−5 M concentrations) and double distilled water for control. Biochemical analyses were carried out after 2, 4 and 6 days. The results show less degradation of chlorophyll a, b, total chlorophyll, carotenoids, proteins in treated ones as compared to control. However, peroxidase activity increased in all the leaf discs with advancement in time. Overall biochemical events remained intact in 0.375 x 10−6 M KN treated set.
