Asystasia dalzelliana Santapau (Acanthaceae), a medicinal plant was regenerated on MS medium by using callus cultures. Maximum shoots were regenerated from the callus using 2.0 mg l−1 of BA. The morphogenetic potential of the calli declined with an increase in the age of the calli. Rooting of regenerated shoots was achieved on the medium supplemented with 8.0 mg l−1 of IAA. The epicuticular wax (ECW) content of the leaves of micropropagated plant was less than the natural ones and the palisade tissue of the leaves were poorly developed. The micropropagated plants were successfully transferred to soil.
