A study was undertaken to compare the effect of light and dark regime on two cultivars each of ureide and amide exporting cuitivars. It was revealed that the activity of nitrogenase and sugar content in nodules were substantially higher during the day in both the species. The species differences in this regard was also encountered, the amide exporters being superior to ureide exporting cuitivars. In contrast, ureide and amide contents in nodules of both the species were found to be higher in dark period. The value being more in ureide exporting cuitivars.
